First ever Cuban music industry strategy will add jobs, share heritage

The cultural heritage of Cuba’s vibrant music industry has enormous potential to enrich the world.

That’s the passionate view of Alejandro Rivera Rojas, Programme Officer for the Latin American and Caribbean division for the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

A new national strategy was launched on Wednesday at UNIDO headquarters in Vienna, Austria, aimed at spreading Cuban music digitally, and boosting economic development.

Natalie Hutchison asked Mr Rivera Rojas about the impact of the cultural and creative industry on the country’s Sustainable Development Goals.
