Protesters in Venezuela have reported being shot at with nuts and bolts at close range by security forces amid what the UN on Tuesday called the “widespread and systematic” use of force during anti-Government demonstrations.
The UN human rights office, OHCHR, made the announcement in Geneva after conducting interviews with victims and witnesses of the violence.
The development coincided with an appeal by UN Secretary-General António Guterres for a political solution “based on dialogue and compromise”.
