UN supports army takeover of operations in south Lebanon

Nearly US$1 million worth of generators, fuel tanks, computers and other electronic devices will be presented to the Lebanese Armed Forces this month by the UN mission in the country, UNIFIL.

The handover, scheduled for this Monday, is part of a joint initiative to enhance the army’s readiness to fully takeover from UN blue helmets in the south.

Yury Kushko spoke to the Deputy Force Commander at UNIFIL, Brigadier General Sandeep Bajaj, who outlined details of what is known as the Strategic Dialogue process.
