Much of Sri Lanka’s infrastructure has been torn apart by the deadly Cyclone Mora which brought floods and mudslides in its wake at the end of May.

That’s according to Tim Sutton of the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) who said that disease “will become a major problem” given the level of destruction, and the failure of flood waters to subside.

There have been more than 53,000 cases of Dengue fever, and hundreds of thousands elsewhere on the island, are at risk due to drought, said Mr Sutton.

More than 684,000 people across 15 provinces were affected, and 300 are either dead or missing.
