An official working with the UN peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic (CAR), also known as MINUSCA, was injured on Tuesday while riding in a UN convoy headed to the village of Bornou.

Demonstrators threw rocks at the vehicles, breaking several windows and wounding the UN staff member in the head.

Investigations are under way to identify the perpetrators of this “unacceptable” act, a statement from MINUSCA said.

Jérôme Longué spoke to mission spokesperson Vladimir Monteiro about the incident and asked him for more details about the attack.
