More action needed to provide 1.1 billion with clean energy

The world will have to act quickly if it is to meet the goal of supplying clean energy to more than one billion people globally who lack access to electricity.

The finding comes in the latest edition of an annual report by the World Bank and the International Energy Agency which monitors progress on providing universal access to modern energy services by 2030.

The Global Tracking Framework 2017 was launched at a sustainable energy forum taking place this week in New York.

Liz Scaffidi was at the forum and spoke to Rachel Kyte, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All.
