Security Council hears of need to support Iraq in “post-Daesh period”

With the operation to liberate Mosul underway, the international community is being asked to look to the day when the Iraqi city will be totally free from the grip of the extremist group ISIL, also known as Daesh.

UN Special Representative in Iraq Ján Kubiš has stressed that the country will require “continuous” international support when that time comes.
