Additional action to slowdown global warming is needed at all levels of society, to avoid climate “disaster”.

That’s according to Shereen Zorba, Global Head of Science-Policy networks at the UN Environment Programme, UNEP.

She was speaking at the launch of UNEP’s annual Emissions Gap report, which shows that unless more action is taken to bolster commitments made in the Paris Agreement on climate change, temperatures will rise by up to 3.4 degrees this century.

UNEP said an additional 25 per cent in cuts to carbon emissions need to found if the world is to stick to the target of keeping temperature rises to below 2 degrees Celsius.

Mustafa Al Gamal asked Ms Zorba to outline the key findings.
