Developing countries around the world could reap a US$21 billion “dividend” if all 10-year old girls are able to finish secondary education.

That’s the finding of the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) in its State of the World Population Report for 2016.

The report shows girls are less likely than boys to complete schooling and more likely to face forced marriage and  child labour.

Richard Kollodge is the editor of the annual flagship report.
