Southern Africa’s latest drought will “hugely increase” the amount of food-insecurity suffered by millions across the region.

He said the drought was the worst in 35 years and a direct consequence of the El Nino weather phenomenon.

Sandra Ferrari asked Mr Marsland, a senior technical officer with the FAO’s Division for Emergency Operations and Rehabilitation, what would happen if help didn’t reach the region in time.
