Illegal fishing operations are expected to be “put out of business” following the agreement of a treaty backed by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

The Port State Measures Agreement is aimed specifically at tackling illegal, unreported and unregulated or IUU fishing across the world.

The agreement will block improperly caught fish from being brought to land and sold in markets.
