Programme promotes Better Work conditions in the garment industry

Approximately 60 million people in the developing world are employed in the garment industry, according to data from the International Labour Organization (ILO).

The UN agency has joined with the World Bank to improve working conditions for these people, most of whom are women.

The Better Work programme helps factories address areas such as working hours, child labour, collective bargaining and occupational safety.

Pete Forster reports on the programme, which can be found in eight countries.
