People with albinism do not bring good luck or bad luck; neither are they  “superhuman.”  They just want to be treated like everyone else.

That’s the message from the UN Independent Expert on Albinism, Ikponwosa Ero, who is hosting a three-day forum in Tanzania to combat discrimination and violations against people with the condition.

Albinism is characterized by a lack of melanin, resulting in lighter than normal skin and hair.

In some countries, people with albinism are physically attacked or killed for their body parts for use in witchcraft.

Stella Vuso asked Ms Ero for an overview of the proceedings on Saturday, the second day of the forum.
