A bigger insurance “safety net” for farmers at risk of losing everything in a natural disaster is being extended by the World Food Programme (WFP).

Greg Barrow, head of WFP’s London office, said it was hoped that governments of countries most affected by adverse weather conditions, would step in to underwrite disaster insurance that could provide security to vulnerable farmers across the world.

Mr Barrow told Joseph Msami how the safety net could prevent a disaster, from becoming a catastrophe.
