New humanitarian education fund is “powerful lever for change”

24 May 2016

A new humanitarian fund for education in emergencies launched at the World Humanitarian Summit, is “a powerful lever for change” that will help millions back into the classroom.

That’s the hope of Gordon Brown, UN Special Envoy for Global Education, who launched the fund at the summit along with UN Children’s Fund, UNICEF.

He said the priority now was to “make it work” for children across the world who are being denied their right to an education.

Mr Brown explained to Stephanie Coutrix, how the Education Cannot Wait fund would reach the more than 13 million children deprived of a classroom, over the next five years.
