Refugee children and their families face “huge” long-term problems if they are not able to attend school, according to the UN Cultural Fund, UNESCO.

The Global Education Monitoring Report produced by UNESCO and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) says that refugee children are five times more likely to be out of school than other children.

The report is due to be presented to the World Humanitarian Summit which begins in Istanbul, Turkey on Monday.
