Reports that more than 100 people burned to death in shelters that were surrounded by the Turkish military must be investigated independently, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights said Tuesday.
The call for a probe by Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein follows a succession of alarming reports about violations allegedly committed by Turkish forces in the south-east of the country in recent months.
The region is associated with a separatist movement known as the PKK which is also blamed for violence and terror attacks in Turkey.
