An iconic sculpture of a large gun, the barrel of which is tied in a knot, is the first thing that many visitors to United Nations headquarters in New York see as they enter the compound.
Its official title is “Non Violence,” although many people know it simply as the knotted gun. It’s come to symbolize the UN’s commitment to world peace.
This week the UN has been remembering the artist who created the sculpture, Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd, who has just died.
Daniel Dickinson reports from outside the General Assembly Hall where it’s located.
