Data is a “natural resource” for implementing social change

Data is a key that can unlock information to get to the heart of some of the world’s most pressing problems.
That’s according to Robert Kirkpatrick, Director of UN Global Pulse, an initiative of the Secretary-General.
Global Pulse was created six years ago and uses large sets of data to analyse the effect of global policies and humanitarian action.
The initiative sees what’s known as “big data” as a particularly useful tool for implementing the Sustainable Development Goals, 17 targets to make the world a cleaner, healthier and more equitable place.
Robert Kirkpatrick spoke to Carmen Cuesta Roca about the initiative.
