An international fashion model from South Sudan says she is using her position in the public eye to tell the story of displaced people in her country and elsewhere.

Millions of people have been displaced due to civil conflict in South Sudan and tens of millions more have been forced to flee their homes in other parts of Africa and the Middle East.

Mari Malek, herself a refugee, was speaking at the United Nations on the margins of a high-level meeting of the Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs
