More than 30 years after the release of an acclaimed film depicting the civil war in Lebanon, the widow of the director has said its message about the absurdity of conflict is as relevant as ever.

The film, Les Petites Guerres (“Little Wars” in English), by director Maroun Bagdadi focuses on how ordinary people's lives were turned upside down by the fighting in the mid-1970s.

At a special UN screening of the movie for the Geneva International Oriental Film Festival, Bagdadi’s widow and lead actress Soraya Khoury told Daniel Johnson that what has changed since the film’s release is the way people deal with conflict now.
