Concern has been voiced by the United Nations over the possible disruption of presidential elections in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) by people who want to stoke up “ethnic” tensions.

Polls are slated for November in the DRC, but logistical and political issues could mean that they will be delayed.

The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in the country, Maman Sidikou, updated the UN Security Council on preparations for the vote.

Tsigue Shiferaw asked Mr Sidikou if the situation was chaotic.
