Tens of millions of people have been saved from the deadly tuberculosis disease since 2000 but the “battle is only half-won”, UN health experts said ahead of World TB Day.

More than nine million people fall ill from TB every year and 1.5 million of them will die from it.

Now, in a call to beat the epidemic once and for all, the World Health Organization (WHO) wants countries to speed up their efforts and make better use of new diagnostic tools and medicines.
