An “ailing” health sector and deteriorating humanitarian conditions are making life “extremely risky” for Libyans.

That’s the verdict of Ali Al-Zaatari, the UN Humanitarian coordinator in Libya.

The North African country has been embroiled in civil war between rival factions since 2014, leaving nearly 2.5 million in need of assistance.

Mr Zaatari said that access to civilians for UN agencies was not a problem but funding from the international community was falling well short of the required amount.

Reem Abaza asked him to describe Libya’s humanitarian needs.
