A lack of electricity is keeping African communities and businesses literally “in the dark” although the continent has enormous energy resources, according to the World Bank.

More than 580 million people on the continent do not have access to power and it’s one of the biggest constraints to its economic growth.

Analysts have estimated that by 2030, two out of three people lacking electricity worldwide will be African.

The Climate Investment Funds (CIF), established by the World Bank, is helping countries build low-carbon and climate resilient economies.
