Twenty support centres that will be established along the most frequently used migration routes in Europe will assist families and children who have fled war, hardship and other trauma.

Known as “Blue Dot” hubs, the support centres will provide protection and counselling services as well as places for children to play, all in one location.

Last year, more than one million people fleeing conflict or instability in countries such as Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq crossed the Mediterranean Sea into Europe.

Women and children comprise the majority of  arrivals, according to the UN.
