The UN-led task force responsible for getting aid into besieged areas in Syria said Thursday that air-drops of supplies are planned over the city of Deir ez-Zour - currently in the hands of ISIL – before calling for access to many millions of people in hard-to-reach places in the war-torn country.

Jan Egeland, who co-chaired the latest meeting in Geneva of the Task Force on Humanitarian Access in Syria, confirmed that aid had been delivered to 80,000 people on Wednesday in five besieged areas of the war-torn country.

But he said that there was only enough aid for a month, and that discussions had focused on reaching all of the remaining besieged areas of Syria, where approximately 480,000 people are affected.
