“Concrete actions” by all the warring parties in Afghanistan are urgently needed to help save civilian lives there.

That’s according to Danielle Bell, Director of Human Rights for the UN mission in the country, UNAMA.

She was speaking after the release of new figures on civilian casualties, which show that 2015 was the worst year so far for deaths and injuries.

Afghan government forces have been battling militant groups such as the Taliban for control of the war-torn country for more than a decade.
