Radio has been “informing, educating and motivating” rural communities in Bangladesh for years, according to the head of a network of local stations.

Bazlur Rahman is the Chief Executive of Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication.

The Asian country is exceptionally vulnerable to natural hazards.

Tropical storms in particular have caused widespread flooding and food insecurity in the rural areas near the coast in recent years.

Mr Rahman has been speaking to the Food and Agriculture Organization’s Sandra Ferrari about the significance of community radio stations that broadcast during natural disasters.
