Radio plays an essential role in situations of conflict or disaster, sometimes making the “difference between life and death”, according to an international media expert.

Anne Bennett, is the Executive Director of Hirondelle USA, a non-profit organization that sets up and supports independent media in post-conflict or humanitarian situations.

She is also a senior fellow at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative research centre, specializing in radio.

Speaking to Jocelyne Sambira ahead of World Radio Day 2016, Ms Bennett explained the power of radio during an emergency.
