More than money needed to help Syrians survive: UNICEF

The burden of caring for millions of Syrian refugees living in the region needs to be shared more equally.

That’s according to the spokesperson for the UN Children’s Fund, UNICEF, in the Middle East.

On Thursday, leaders and organizations from around the world gather in London for the latest Syria Donors Conference, aiming to raise US$9 billion.

An international appeal last year for US$8.4 billion managed to raise less than half that figure.

Matthew Wells spoke to Simon Ingram, UNICEF’s communications chief, who is based in the Jordanian capital, Amman.

And began by asking him whether money alone, could deal with the problems brought on by the humanitarian crisis in Syria.
