Uruguay has said it will aim to act as a peace “facilitator” during its one-month presidency of the UN Security Council.

On January 1, the South American country became a non-permanent member of the Council for only the second occasion, at a time when conflict and insecurity continues to destabilize parts of the Middle East and Africa.

Ambassador Elbio Rosselli, the Permanent Representative of Uruguay is President for the month.

Jorge Miyares asked him what contribution Uruguay could make to solve current international crises.
