The terrorists targeting civilians and aid workers in Mali won’t stop the humanitarian effort there.

That’s according to the UN humanitarian coordinator in the north-west African country, Mbaranga Gasarabwe.

She was speaking after extremist gunmen attacked a hotel in the capital Bamako on Friday, killing twenty people, most of whom were foreigners.

There has been an upsurge in attacks on humanitarian workers in Mali, since the signing of a fragile peace accord earlier this year.

Prescilla Lecomte asked Ms Gasarabwe how the rising insecurity was affecting the UN’s work.
