Five million Palestine refugees have faced a “dramatic change” in their situation over the past year according to the UN agency that supports them, UNWRA.

In Syria around 95 per cent of the estimated 430,000 refugees there are dependent on the UN; before the civil war broke out there, they were largely self-sufficient.
