Countries negotiating an international climate deal are deadlocked over whether developed and developing countries should be treated the same, according to the UN.

Some states are arguing that there should be differentiation between rich and poor countries with different rules to reflect varying national capacities.

The international community is meeting in Paris in December in the hope of formally agreeing a legally-binding global climate deal.

The main focus is to keep temperature rises to below two degrees Celsius.
