Tanzania elections: leaders urged to respect voters’ rights

Political and community leaders in Tanzania are being urged by the United Nations to respect the rights of citizens as they head to the polls this weekend.

Tanzanians will elect a new President, parliamentarians and local government councillors in general elections on Sunday.

Assumpta Massoi spoke with the UN representative in the country, Alvaro Rodriguez.

He said regardless of the outcome, candidates must accept “the will of the people.”
