The failure of policymakers to find solutions to major challenges such as Europe’s refugee crisis shows how important is for people to take positive action themselves, a top UN official has said.

Michael Møller, who’s the head of the United Nations in Geneva (UNOG), made his comments ahead of the Geneva Peace Talks, an event that focuses on how individuals can make their own impact.

Jointly organized by UNOG and NGOs the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform and Interpeace, the event brings together a diverse mix of speakers that this year includes a former Islamic extremist.
