Peacekeepers who abuse their power should be punished

Peacekeepers convicted of abusing their positions of power should be given sentences that fit the crimes they have committed.

That’s according to Cécile Pouilly, spokesperson for the UN human rights office, OHCHR.

Investigations are currently underway into the alleged sexual abuse of a minor in the Central African Republic (CAR) by a member of the French military force in the country.

Alpha Mamadou Diallo asked Ms Pouilly for more details about the case.
