Peer education and social media strategies to prevent violence against women and girls are being adopted in China by the UN agency that deals with gender issues, UN Women.

In line with the agency’s HeForShe campaign, the “Peer Leadership for Healthy Relationships Programme” is being implemented at the Beijing Royal School.

Young boys have been reacting by asking questions, especially on how they should be treating girls and how to take responsibility for their actions.

Ana Carmo spoke with Julie Broussard and Ruixiang Guo who are coordinating the programme.

She started by asking Ms Guo how they aim to achieve gender equality among the young generations in China.
