A lack of investment in gender equality and women’s empowerment has created barriers to achieving global development goals, according to the UN Secretary-General.

Ban Ki-moon was speaking during a panel discussion on the margins of the Third International Conference on Finance for Development held this week in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The panel was organized by UN Women and the World Bank and served as an opportunity to mobilize political support for financing initiatives that will benefit women and girls across the globe.
