Malaria can be beaten in the next 15 years but it’s going to take US$100 billion to do it, UN health partners said Friday.
The Roll Back Malaria Partnership (RBM), which calculated the staggering sum, said the global approach to the deadly disease in 94 countries needs to change.
That means that rather than being seen as a health problem, malaria should be viewed as an economic issue that costs the world economy billions every year in lost productivity, RBM’s Dr Fatoumato Nafo Traore told Daniel Johnson.
