The Nigerian government has demonstrated a “new resolve” to take on the outlawed Boko Haram terrorist group according to the Head of the UN Office for West Africa (UNOWA).

The group has continued to attack civilians in the north of Nigeria and in neighbouring countries, but has suffered what’s been described as “significant reversals.”

The UNOWA chief, Mohamed Ibn Chambas, has been in New York to brief the Security Council on the current situation in the region.

Daniel Dickinson asked him to assess the progress made there in the first half of this year.
