A silent and underfunded chronic humanitarian crisis has developed in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), according to the United Nations.

The Organization has just released a report on the needs and priorities of the country in 2015.

The UN is calling for US$111 million to fund its humanitarian operations.

Meanwhile,  funding for its agencies assisting 18 million food-insecure North Koreans has decreased by more than 80 per cent over the past decade.

Stephanie Coutrix spoke with Ghulam Isaczai, the UN Resident Coordinator in DPR Korea, and began by asking him to describe in what conditions the people there are living.
