Africa is not well equipped to forecast weather conditions and respond to disasters, according to a senior official from Malawi.

This issue was discussed by African government Ministers responsible for meteorological at a meeting, organized by the UN weather agency and the African Union which took place in Cape Verde.

The ministers shared ideas on how to accelerate regional efforts to strengthen resilience to extreme weather hazards and adapt to climate change.

Derrick Mbatha asked Jolamu Nkhokwe, Director of Climate Change and Meteorological Services in Malawi about the meeting and what African countries are doing to improve their meteorological services.
