The humanitarian priorities for 2015 will be set by relief workers battling crises and disasters on the ground, a senior UN official has said.

Over US$400 million has been pledged by donors to a UN fund in support of urgent aid needs for next year.

The Central Emergency Fund or CERF is a humanitarian fund which receives contributions from governments, the private sector, foundations and individuals.

In 2014 the majority of funds went to countries like Sudan, South Sudan and the Central African Republic to assist displaced populations.

Jocelyne Sambira began by asking Lisa Doughten, Chief of the CERF, if she was disappointed she did not get the $450 million requested initially.
