Refugees from Syria with serious medical conditions are benefiting from resettlement opportunities mainly in Europe, and North and South America.

A pledging conference in Geneva this week sought to increase the number of places available for people seeking refuge from the ongoing civil conflict in Syria which began in 2011.

Alexandra King tells the story of Abdu, a young Syrian boy who was born deaf, and whose life has been turned around since resettling in Germany.
