Without basic public health infrastructures and systems in place, no country can be stable according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

A High-level meeting on building resilient health systems in Ebola-affected countries took place at the UN Office in Geneva on 11 and 12 December.

Its aim was to find innovative solutions, to decide on what needs to be done urgently and in the longer-term.

The three hardest-hit countries are Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone, with a combined figure of 6,373 reported deaths.

Daniel Johnson reports.
