Papua New Guinea faces up to “resource curse”

Papua New Guinea is facing up to the challenge of a so-called “resource curse” as it focuses on boosting the well-being of its citizens according to the United Nations’ senior representative in the country.
Just under half of all people on the island nation live on less a dollar a day despite the fact that the country has significant natural resources.
On Thursday, the UN released its National Human Development Report which warns that Papua New Guinea is at a “critical juncture” in its development .
