Women around the world deserve to live a life free of fear according to a leading Zimbabwean-American actress.

Danai Gurira, best known as Michonne on the drama series “The Walking Dead”, attended the UN commemoration of the International Day to End Violence against Women, on 25 November in New York.

The actress performed two scenes from her play “Eclipse”, which is set in 2003 during the civil war in Liberia.

The play highlights the struggle many women face in times of war.

Stephanie Castro asked Ms Gurira why she brought her play to the UN.
