The humanitarian situation for people displaced by conflict in South Sudan has been described as “dire” by the UN deputy humanitarian chief.

The conflict which broke out in December 2013 between government and opposition forces in the country has displaced 1.4 million people and forced almost half a million others to flee to neighbouring countries.

UN Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Kyung-wha Kang has been visiting the UN Protection of Civilians (POC) sites sheltering the displaced people in the country.

Reech Malual caught up with Ms. Kang to find out about her mission to the newest African country.
